ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born in Lewisham, South East London, and have spent all of my working life doing what I love drawing, painting and coming up with creative ideas.
My career started as a visualiser and storyboard artist, working on advertising ideas and concepts. Along the way, I also illustrated books and magazines and worked around the world on a wide variety of advertising campaigns.
Eventually, I moved into advertising as an Art Director. I had the opportunity to dream up campaigns for some great household names, including Heinz, B&Q, Air New Zealand, the New Zealand Tourist Board, Sky, Fuller's and Royal Mail among many others.
In 2009, I moved with my family to the East Kent coast. Since then, I've been able to concentrate more on my own artwork and, in particular, my love of linocut printmaking.
Over the years I've produced hundreds of pieces of artwork, from portraits and landscapes to cars, houses and scenes inspired by by everyday life. I enjoy finding interesting subjects and turning them into strong, graphic images that work particularly well as linocuts.
My studio is a little different from most - an old conservatory on the back of the house. Not glamorous, but quiet. Full of natural light and most importantly, it's my space. I can shut the door on everything else and get on with the job.
For me there's something very satisfying about the whole linocut process - starting with the sketch on the lino, to carving out the image by hand and finally pulling the print. No three stages are quite the same, and that handmade quality is an important part of what I love about printmaking.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work, I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoy making it.
